Surgical Breast Improvement

Breast surgery is a form of surgery performed on the breasts. There are many types of surgical breast treatments including: breast augmentation; breast reduction surgery; breast-conserving surgery ; lumpectomy; mastectomy; and breast lift.

Surgical Breast augmentation involves the implantation of breast implants for fuller breasts. Women choose to have breast augmentation surgery to improve their self-image. A breast implant alters the size and shape of the breasts of a person. There are two primary types of breast implants: saline-filled and silicone-gel-filled. Saline implants have a silicone elastomer shell filled with sterile saline liquid. Silicone gel implants have a silicone shell filled with a viscous silicone gel.

Breast reduction or a reduction mammoplasty is a common surgical procedure, which involves reducing the size of breasts by excising fat, skin, breast implants and glandular tissue; it may also involve a procedure to counteract drooping of the breasts. As with breast augmentation, this procedure is for women, also on men afflicted by gynecomastia.

Breast-conserving surgery is a less radical cancer removal surgery than mastectomy. During breast-conserving surgery, a surgeon removes the damaged part of the breast tissue during surgery, as opposed to the entire breast, much like a lumpectomy.

A lumpectomy is a common surgical procedure performed by a surgeon who removes a discrete lump, usually a tumor, from the breast of an affected man or woman. A lumpectomy is a relatively non-invasive procedure because it does not involve the removal of all breast tissue. Unlike a mastectomy, a lumpectomy is a viable means of "breast conservation" or "breast preservation" surgery.

A mastectomy is a surgery where a doctor removes one or both breasts, partially or completely. During a mastectomy, a surgeon removes all of the breast tissue, which helps treat cancer. In some cases, women and some men at high risk of breast cancer undergo the operation voluntarily, that is, to prevent cancer rather than treat it.

A mastopexy or breast lift, refers to an elective surgical operation designed to lift or change the shape of the breasts. A breast lift repositions the areola and nipple, while lifting the breast tissue and removing excess sagging skin.

Large Breast Enlargement

Large breast enlargement adds generous size and contour to any woman's frame. Because big breast implants come in a variety of sizes, and because every size will produce different results on different women, careful thought and consultation with a highly qualified breast implant expert are necessary to achieve optimal results. Selecting the proper size of large breast enlargement to achieve desired results requires careful consideration. While 600cc to 700cc breast implants will bring most breasts to at least a DD size, for many women this is not enough. Women who want to make a statement select 750cc, 800cc, 900cc, and even 1000cc breast implants. If one is considering large breast implants, choose a breast implant surgeon who has extensive experience placing large breast implants. The doctor should be able to show before-and-after photographs of women who have had breast enlargement to size DD, as well as women who have had 800cc to 1000cc breast enlargement; so that can get an idea of the change that large, breast implants will bring to the body. The doctor should also fully describe the potential risks and complications from breast enlargement, and the physical impact that big breasts implants have. Only after fully understanding how the look and the physical considerations of the larger breast implant sizes should the patient proceed with surgery. Increasing breast size is the primary reason most women choose to undergo breast enhancement surgery. Large breast implants, such as those used in DD cup breast enlargements, are ideal for women who desire a dramatic change in the contour of their bodies. Large breast enlargements have advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes a woman seeking large breasts will discount the downside of big breast implants. However, careful examination of the advantages and the disadvantages will help make an informed decision about what size will be most appropriate for in the long term. The cosmetic surgeon can provide information that is specific to each body’s enlargement and patient goals. Q: What type of anesthesia does the doctor administer? A: Thanks to the growing safety of plastic surgery and the refined techniques used, procedures do not require a lot of general anesthesia. The preferred anesthesia method is light general anesthesia where the patient is lightly anesthetized and entirely unaware of the surgery. This method minimizes nausea and other discomforts of general anesthesia. More Plastic Surgery Questions

Implant Displacement

There is no real way to secure a breast implant in place once a doctor inserts it into its surgically prepared pocket. Implants may therefore displace upward, downward, outside, and inside their normal position. Anatomic, or teardrop shaped implants , may also rotate and lead to an abnormal breast shape. Unusual techniques of implant placement may increase the risk of displacement or migration. Additional surgery may be necessary to correct of this problem.
